Janet Cardon Stevenson Allred passed her mortal test and returned to her Heavenly Father Monday, March 24, 2003. She was surrounded by her family. Her family is very proud of her courage and positive attitude throughout her struggle with ALS (Lou-Gehrig’s disease).

She was born April 10th, 1948 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to Samuel Grant and Nada Stevenson. Her family eventually settled in Orem, Utah where she attended public schools and graduated fro Orem High School in 1966.

Janet married her high school sweetheart, Art Allred on August 13th, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they settled in American Fork where they worked and raised their four children. Janet worked at the American Fork Hospital for 26 years and made many close friends there as well as in the community.

Janet loved life and cheered many people with her bright smile. She led a very active life. She played the piano, dance point, was a cheerleader and played fast pitch softball. The majority of her spare time was devoted to supporting her family in their activities.

She was happiest in the bleachers cheering her family on.

Janet was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her family wishes to thank all those who helped support us these last 18 months in many different ways. They are especially thankful to the kind care of her dear friend and nurse Brigitte.

Janet is survived by her husband of over 31 years, Art Allred. Her four children, Brandelin (Richard) Spiers, Warner Robins, GA. Derek, Anjelee, and Dane, American Fork, Ut. One granddaughter, Savannah Spiers. Her mother Nada Stevenson, Orem, Ut., five sisters, Diane (Don) Ihler, Grass Valley, CA., Fay (Gary) Howard, Orem, Ut., Sunny (Jim) Pouquette, Los Altos, Ca., Julie (Doug) Dobson, Orem, Ut., Tammy Shirley, Oakley, Ut. She was preceded in death by her father Samuel Grant Stevenson.

A viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 E. 800 N. Orem, Utah, Thursday, March 27th, from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held February, March 28th at the American Fork 32nd ward chapel 270 N. 900 E. American Fork, Ut., at 11:00 am. A short viewing will be held prior to the service. Burial will be at the American Fork Cemetery.
