ST. GEORGE, UT- Ivan C. Kocherhans, age 80, passed peacefully away on May 15, 2001, in St. George, Utah. Ike was born October 9, 1920 in Lovell, Wyojming, to William G. and Viola Perry.
Ivan graduated from Orem High School, Brigham Young University and Idaho State University School of Pharmacy.
He married Lorraine Richards on April 21, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the proud parents of six children, Susan (Ray) Blake of Bountiful; Steven Kocherhans of Salt Lake City; Larry (Carolyn) Kocherhans of Bountiful; David (Elizabeth) Kocherhans of Bountiful; Patricia (Mike) Rivers of Chandler, Arizona; and Pamela (Ken) Carey of West Jordan. He had three brothers; Glenn, Lavor (Katheryn) and Chester, and one sister, LaPriel (Lloyd) Louder, 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Olga, Maxine, Hilda and Marjorie.
Ivan was a World War II veteran who bravely served his country in England, France and Germany. Ike was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a member of two Bishoprics, on the High Council, was an Eagle Scout and served as Scout Master. Ike and Lorraine have completed three missions, one in the Louisville, KY mission, one at the St. George Historical Sites, and one at the Family History Center.
Ivan began his career as a pharmacist in Provo at City Drug before becoming a pharmaceutical representative for Parke-Davis pharmaceutical where he became district manager over the western states. He was a member of the Utah Pharmacy Association.
A visitation will be held in St. George on Friday, May 18, 2001, at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd., from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, at the Green Valley 10th Ward Chapel, 511 S. Valley View Dr., at 11 a.m. A visitation will be Saturday, from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Services will also be held in Bountiful, Utah, at the Bountiful North Canyon 3rd Ward, 2505 South Davis Blvd, on Monday, May 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. A visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful, Utah. The family wishes to express thanks to St. George Hospice, especially Carolyn Duggins, for their tender care.
