SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Irene Ricks Bastow, 93, passed away Monday, July 10, 1989, in San Diego.
She was born in Salina on Nov. 29, 1895, to Joel and Susette Cardon Ricks, the seventh of nine children. She grew up in Logan. She married Joseph Garfield Bastow on May 1, 1918, in Salt Lake City. They spent most of their married life in the Oakland, Calif., area. They were the parents of three sons.
Irene was active throughout her life in ward and stake Relief Society work. She was an officiator in the Oakland LDS Temple for 12 years. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Joseph G. and Gladys Bastow, San Diego Calif.; Wendell R. and Jean Bastow, Medford, Ore.; Paul and Beverly Bastow, Lebanon, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; 1? great-grandchildren; a sister Carrie R. Merrill, Bountiful; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday in San Diego. Burial will be at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno Calif.
