Hugh Austin Moore, Jr, died December 18, 2010 in Rexburg. 

He was born to Hugh and Ethyl Moore on December 9, 1920 in Chico, Texas. He was the oldest of four children. His father, who managed lumber yards for a living, died of pneumonia when Hugh was just seven years old. 

Hugh served as a flying instructor in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After being honorably discharged from military service, he married Elizabeth M. Eggers on August 10, 1946. One son, Hugh A. Morre, III was born to this marriage. In the fall of 1947 the family moved from Texas to the Northwest where they lived in the Portland-Vancouver area for the next twenty-nine years. In 1966 Hugh and Elizabeth divorced. 

In 1969, he married Ruth Elaine Damron in Reno, Nevada and this marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah LDS temple. They lived in Gresham, Oregon until 1976. After his retirement, Hugh and Elaine relocated to Rexburg, Idaho to be nearer to Elaine’s children, Sallie Rae O’Neal, Richard Dean Horrocks and Terri Le Cardon. 

Hugh is survived by his son, Hugh A. Moore, III (Marjorie Cannon), of Portland, OR; his sister, Mary Beth, of North Richland Hills, TX; his stepdaughter, Terri Le Cardon, of Rexburg; eight grandchildre; and 34 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, with Bishop Brett Sampson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. 

Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery, with military rites by the Madison County Veterans Team.
