George Essom Clayson, 56, Provo carpenter, passed away at his home, 211 East Sixth North Street, Thursday, after a three years’ illness of valvular heart disease.

Mr. Clayson was born in Payson, May 6, 1879, a son of Nathan and Anna Butler Clayson. He went to Colonia Juarez, Mexico with his parents in 1890, and returned to Payson in 1912. He moved to Provo in 1916, and had resided here ever since.

He was active in L. D. S. church work, and served in ward choirs, both in Mexico and Provo. He married Edith Cordon, July 21, 1901, in Mexico, who with his mother, who now lives in Salt Lake City, and the following children survive: Mrs. Sarah Burningham, Orem; Mrs. Annie Brown, Tremonton; Mrs. Edith Stubbs, Joseph, Florence and Fay Clayson, Provo.

Six grandchildren also survive, as do the following brothers and sisters: Nathan Clayson, Hyrum Clayson, Payson; Mrs. May Butler, Mrs. Ada Garfield, Tremonton; Mrs. Fannie Done, Salt Lake City; Jesse Clayson, Provo; Ed Clayson, Cornish.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 o’clock in the Manavu ward. The body is at the Hatch Mortuary.
