Fall Down Steps Claims Life of George Cardon
George D. Cardon, 2547 Van Buren Ave., prominent Ogden businessman and civic worker, died yesterday in the Dee Hospital of head injuries received in a fall at his home a few hours earlier. He was 76.
He was found at the bottom of some basement steps with his head resting on the floor and the lower part of his body lying up the steps, said Mrs. Cardon.
A ladder had been placed by him near the top of the steps, but it was not known whether he fell from it or just became overbalanced and fell backwards down the staircase.
Judging from the position of his body, Mrs. Cardon said she didn’t believe he fell from the ladder.
He had been removing storm windows with the help of his wife. He had taken one to the garage. He then apparently got the ladder from the garage and placed it. From then on no one knew just what happened.
He was rushed to Dee Hospital and given oxygen, blood transfusions, and the attentions of a brain specialist in a vain attempt to save his life.
Mr. Cardon moved to Ogden in 1923, where established the George D. Cardon Abstract Co. Retiring in 1951, he sold the business to his son, Dean Cardon.
