PRESTON – Frances Maxine Ward Merrill, 51, died Tuesday at her home in Preston of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 16, 1921, at Sandy, Utah, the daughter of Bert and Lauretta Jensen Ward. She married Dean Wettstein Merrill in March 1938. He died in 1969.

Mrs. Merrill was a lifelong resident of Preston and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter: Earl, Salt City; Eugene, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs. Leon (Linda) Burbank, Preston; her parents, Salt Lake City, and a brother, Darwin Ward, North Salt Lake.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Webb Funeral Home under the direction of Bishop Reed Brenchley. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before services.

Burial will be in the Whitney Cemetery.

Survivors: sons, daughter, Earl, Salt Lake City; Eugene, Phoenix; Mrs. Leon (Linda) Burbank, Preston; 4 grandchildren; parents, Salt Lake City; brother, Darwin, North Salt Lake. Funeral Friday, 1 p.m., Webb Mortuary, Preston, where friends call Friday, 11 a.m. until services. Burial Whitney Cemetery.
