Willard – LaRae Byrne Rasmussen was born Oct. 9 1934 to Walter M. and Luella Sharp Byrne, in Ogden, UT. She was born in the home of her aunt, Hazel Sharp Galli. She spent her early childhood in Piedmont, WY. Where she attended a one-room school house with seven other girls. Her family later moved to Ogden where she attended Ogden City Schools.

She met her husband of 61 years, Ronald Lee Rasmussen, at a dentist’s office. When she saw him smile at her, with his beautiful smile, she was smitten. They married two years later. Together they remodeled and lived in his great-grandmother’s home in Ogden, UT. years later, they built a home in Liberty, UT and finally settled in Willard, UT before Ron passed away in 2012.

They enjoyed camping with their family and spent many vacations in Yellowstone Park. Together they built a cabin at Henry’s Lake in Island Park, ID where the family often gathered and made many wonderful memories.

After retiring from the IRS in 1994, LaRae and Ron became “snow birds” and spent winters in Yuma, AZ and Mesquite, NV.

LaRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings; her favorite being a family history consultant. She was also a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was very proud of her heritage.

LaRae is survived by their five children, Rick (Trudy) Rasmussen, Karen (Ronald) Buhrley, Wendy Myers, Shanna (David) Rhees, and Dale (Lori) Rasmussen. She has eighteen grandchildren; fifty- five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her two sisters, Donna Byrne Larson and Fae Byrne Crompton. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and one brother Francis W. Byrne.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Myer Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Monday, March 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Liberty Utah Cemetery.
