The funeral will be held today, Sept. 24, for Etta Elnora Cardon of Eugene, who died Sept. 21 of age-related causes. She was 89.

Cardon was born March 6, 1908, in Dublan, Mexico, to Benjamin and Mary Harris Moffett.
She married Ernest Cardon in Mesa, Ariz., on Oct. 10, 1928.

Cardon lived in New Mexico from 1928 until 1934. She then moved to Colorado, where she taught elementary school from 1944 to 1952. She moved to Turlock, Calif., in 1953.
In 1959, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education at San Francisco State University. She continued teaching in Turlock until 1973.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Her interests included piano, violin, reading, quilting and arts and crafts.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Orpha Tarone of Spanish Fork, Utah; two brothers, Horace Moffett of Socorro, N.M., and Benjamin Moffett of Provo, Utah; a sister, Alveda Luntof Duncan, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Three sons, Ernest, Ralph and Ivan, and one grandchild died previously.

Today’s service is at 2 p.m. at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Burial will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park.
