Ernest W. Cardon, 82, of Ogden, died Monday evening in a local nursing home. Mr. Cardon was born May 24, 1892, in Ogden, a son of John D. and Elizabeth Nesser Cardon.
He was married to Eva Wadsworth on Dec. 2, 1914, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1943. He was married to Minerva Page on Sept. 27, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He resided in Ogden until moving to St. George, Utah, nine years ago, returning to Ogden a year ago.
He had been a farmer, school teacher, school bus driver and butcher.
He served an LDS mission to the Western States from 1914 to 1916 and was former presiding elder of the West Warren Branch. He had also been a member of the high council of the South Ogden, North Weber and Weber stakes. He was former Adult Aaronic Priesthood advisor in the Ogden 26th Ward, and was an active temple worker in the St. George Temple.
Surviving are the following sons and daughters: William H. Cardon, Missoula, Mont.; Darrell E. Cardon, Roy; Blain O. Cardon, Puyallup, Wash.; John D. Cardon, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Wayne E. (Carrie) Rose, Warren; Mrs. H. Roy (Marie) Edmison, Colma, Calif.
Also surviving are the following stepsons and stepdaughters: Mrs. LaPrele Perkins, St. George; Mrs. Rex (Ruthe) Allred, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Frank (Gail) Gibbons, Layton; George Page, Laramie, Wyo.; Sid Page, Denver, Colo.; Russell Page, Cheyenne, Wyo.; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister. Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Coray, Ogden; Lawrence Cardon, Declo, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Larkin Chapel of the Dawn.
Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Interment in Ogden City Cemetery.
