Wife of Francis Kendell Byrne


WINNEMUCCA Oct. 15 (Special) — Following a lengthy illness, Mrs. Emma Kendell Byrne, 73, died at the Byrne home at 141 Sheppard street Wednesday night.

A member of a pioneer Utah family, Mrs. Byrne was born March 17, 1872 at Uintah, Utah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs William Kendell. She was married to Francis Byrne in Utah, November 26, 1891.

They Byrne family moved to Elko in 1912, and from there to Winnemucca in 1925. Byrne, who was assistant signal supervisor for the Southern Pacific, died in April, 1928.

Surviving are four daughters, Miss Bertha Byrne of Winnemucca, Mrs. Fred Fernald of Elko, Mrs. George Austin of Sparks and Mrs. Kathryn Hubbard of Reno; three sons Kendall Byrne and Fred Byrne, both of Winnemucca, and Edwin Byrne, stationed at Mare Island with the navy, three grandchildren, Mrs. Frank Adams of Oakland, Calif., Lloyd Austin of Sparks and Bobby Byrne of Vallejo, Calif., and a brother, Timothy Kendell of Uintah, Utah.
