Emanuel A. “Lon” Cardon

Funeral for Emanuel A. “Lon” Cardon will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Vancouver Stake. Mr. Cardon died Friday in his Vancouver home at the age of 81.

Born in Tombstone. Ariz., he had lived in Vancouver since 1931. He was a retired foreman of the old Carborundum Co. plant in Vancouver, which he helped build in the 1940s. Mr. Cardon worked at the firm until he retired in 1971.

Previously, he had worked at what was the Crown Zellerbach Corp. mill in Camas until 1942, and he was an owner of the Mobil service station at 12th and Washington streets in Vancouver from 1942 to 1944.

Mr. Cardon was a member of the Amateur Radio Club of Vancouver, Elks Lodge 823 and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fourth Ward in Vancouver.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Vancouver; three sons, Lon D. “Bob” of Vancouver, Donald D. of Allyn. Wash., and Kenneth R. of Gresham, Ore.; one daughter, Betty Witt of Vancouver; two sisters, Rose Conk of Salt Lake and Faye Chalk of Lewis, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be until noon Wednesday in Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
