Dies In St. George
Emanuel Alonzo (Lon) Cardon, died at St. George, Sunday, Feb. 14 of a stroke.
A son to Emanuel Phillip and Amelia Maria Merrick, he was born in Colonia, Old Mexico, Dec. 12, 1877.
He married Rose Vilate Terry of Sterling, Utah, May 10, 1898. She died Sept. 5, 1944 at Hinckley.
Most of Mr. Cardon’s life was spent in Hinckley, where he was engaged in farming and was an active member of the LDS Church.
He later married Harriet Woodbury Barnum in St. George.
He is survived by two sons and four daughters; Emanuel A., Ivin, Ivin Terry, Wahsington; Mrs. Walter (Dency) Stout, Salt Lake; Mrs. Lloyd (Irene Christensen, Tooele; Mrs. Rose Conk, Salt Lake; Mrs. LeRoy (Faye) Chalk, Lewis, Kansas. Mrs. Ward (Bonnie) Johnson, Delta, is a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 10:00 a.m. at St. George. Graveside services will be held at Hinckley cemetery, 4:30 p.m. the same day.

ST. GEORGE – Emanuel Alonzo Cardon, 82, died Monday, 12:08 a.m., in a local hospital after a stroke. Born Dec. 12, 1877, Woodruff, Ariz., to Emanuel P. and Amelia Mariah Merrick Cardon. Married Rosa Vilate Terry, May 10, 1898, Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico. Later solemnized Manti Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died Sept. 4, 1944, Tooele. Married Harriet Woodbury Barnum, July 10, 1948, St. George LDS Temple. Livestock man and rancher. Survivors: widow, St. George; sons, daughters, Dency S., Mrs. Rosa Conk, Salt Lake City; Emanuel A. Jr., Vancouver Wash.; Ivins, Washington; Mrs. Irene Christensen, Tooele: Mrs. Fay Chalk, Lewis, Kan.; Stepsons, stepdaughter La Rue Barnum, Moses Lake, Washington; Verl Barnum, Las Vegas, Nev,; John Le Roy Barnum, Henderson, Nev.; Mrs. Helen Monson, Sacramento, Calif.; 42 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren. Funeral, Thursday, 10 a.m., St. George Sixth Ward LDS Chapel. Friends call Spilsbury Funeral Home, Wednesday 8-9 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. Burial, Hinckley City Cemetery, Hinckley, Utah, Thursday, 4:30 p.m.
