Elmer “LeRoy” Chalk, age 87, of Provo, Utah, passed away on May 8, 2002. In his own words, “I had a full life and am ready to return to my Heavenly Father.”

Born on the family farm on August 21, 1914, in Lewis, Kansas, he was the third child of Jesse Otto Chalk and Katherine Kirsch.

He married Faye Cardon on July 1, 1937 in Vancouver, Washington. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple in 1953. They spent most of their married life in Kansas and LeRoy retired from the postal service after 36 years. He also was the town barber in Lewis for some of those years.

In 1992, due to declining health, LeRoy and Faye moved to Orem, Utah to be closer to their eldest daughter, Cindy, and her family. LeRoy loved the golf courses here in Utah.

He is survived by his wife, Faye, and their children: Cindy (Max) Haag of Orem and Jodi (Daniel) Venable of Wichita, Kansas. His son, Vincent preceded him in death as did his brother, Leo and sister, Lucille. He leaves behind three grandchildren: Mike (Angela) Gammell of Spanish Fork, and their children, Tucker, Lauren and Cailey; Brad (Laura) Callahan of Ottawa, Kansas and Misti (Ray) Shulte of Omaha, Nebraska. He also has six step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the residents and staff at Courtyard at Jamestown Assisted Living for their friendship and support.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North, Orem, Utah. Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
