Hurricane, UT – Ellen Cardon Young, 68, passed away after a long illness Sunday, July 4, 2004, in Hurricane, UT. She was born August 8, 1935, in Durango, CO, to Joseph Phillip Cardon and Anna Marie Rothlisburger Cardon. She married Lynn Budd Young June 6, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, UT.

Ellen was raised in Durango, CO. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Homemaking Education in 1958. She taught school in Colorado and in Utah while her husband was overseas in the military.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various teaching and leadership capacities. In later years she was active in Family History and served in the Hurricane and St. George Family History Centers. She also served a family history mission with her husband to the Tennessee Knoxville Mission.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn Budd Young, Hurricane, UT; son, Joseph Lynn (Christine) Young, West Columbia, SC; daughters, Lucinda (James) Coy, Yorktown, VA, Denise Young, West Jordan, UT, Suzette (Barry) Hansen, Midvale, UT; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; and five brothers.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 8, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hurricane Thirteenth Ward Chapel, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, UT. A viewing was held Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main St., Hurricane, and again on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. prior to services at the Chapel.
