RIVERTON – Funeral services for Ella May Byrne, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug.9, 2008, at the Davis Funeral Home, Larry Metz will officiate.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug.11, 2008, in the Orchard Mesa Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colo.

There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, preceding the service.

She died on Aug.4, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

She was born on May 20, 1925, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Andrew Young Robertson and Lillian (Beach) Robertson.

She married Allen F. Byrne on July 11, 1953, in Ogden. 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family ranched at Piedmont from 1953 to 1958, ran the Top Rail Motel in Cheyenne from 1958 to 1962, lived in Powder Wash, Colo., from 1962 to 1967.

She worked for Dixon, Inc. in Grand Junction, Colo, from 1967 to 1973; operated Table Rock Service in Wyoming from 1973 to 1981, and, after her husband’s death, she moved to Sandy, Utah.

She returned to Wyoming in 1991 and made her home in Riverton.

She enjoyed her family, including children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a newly-arrived great-great-granddaughter. She loved to travel, read, and collect Betty Boop items.

For several years, she served as a foster grandparent at Jefferson Elementary School in Riverton.

Her family said it was a source of joy for her when she was out in the community and children greeted her as "Grandma B."

She is survived by her children, Virginia Cooper and her husband Kent of Rock Springs, Glenn Byrne and his wife Randi of Colorado, John Byrne of Casper, Alice Metz and her husband Larry of Farson, and Mary Lou Huffstetler and her husband Bruce of Riverton; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brother Ronald Robertson and his wife, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents; two sisters; four brothers; a granddaughter Tracy Byrne; and good friend Bonnie Rodgers.

Memorials may be made to the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation, the Riverton Senior Center, or the American Diabetes Association, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main, Riverton, WY 82501.
