Edwin Hill Beus is of Waldensian extraction. His great-grandfather, James Beus and great-grand aunts were born in the Piedmont valleys in Italy. His great-grand aunt, Anne Beus, married Moses Byrne as did Catherine Cardon. Another of his great-grand aunts, Magdalene Beus married Jean Paul Cardon. Magdalene Beus, Anne Beus and James Beus are siblings, children of Michael Beus and Marianne Combe.
Edwin Hill Beus, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, has gone home.
Edwin was born in Menan, Idaho to Rulon and Hope Spencer Beus on November 18, 1941, the seventh of nine children. He spoke often throughout his life of his love for farming and the beautiful mountain plains of Idaho. As a boy he learned to work hard on the family’s dairy farm and to love the outdoors and sports, especially softball. He served in the Southern States Mission and returned home to schooling in Provo, Utah. He then attended George Washington University Law School and spent his professional life as an honest, hardworking, and loyal advocate. He was a staunch defender of liberty.
Edwin married Anne Workman for time and all eternity on August 25, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 12 children: Annalyn, Shawn, Laura, Ellen, Jenny, Sam, Katie, Elizabeth, Chris, Cindy, Ben, and Jessica. What perhaps defined Edwin most was his unwavering devotion to his family. He loved Anne dearly throughout his life and adamantly instilled in his children a love for God and country. His life was marked with great adversity both physically and emotionally, but he shouldered this adversity with faith and with the charitable grace of his loving wife. As a family we are grateful that his suffering is at an end. He has returned home to his God and to the love of the family and friends who preceded him in death. He left a lasting legacy of devotion, honor, integrity, faith, charity, and countless other qualities, and we are honored to have known and loved this wonderful man of God.
Edwin is preceded in death by his mother and father; his sisters, Joy and Ann; his brother Daniel; and his granddaughter Samantha. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; 12 children; 48 grandchildren; and his siblings Stanley, Stephen, Lynn, Robin, and Gary.
Funeral Services: Saturday, October 15, 11:00 am at the LDS Church at 1500 E. 8600 S. in Sandy, Utah.
