Edith Cardon Dies in Mesa
MESA – Funeral services for Mrs. Edith J. D. Cardon, 83, who died Wednesday in Mesa General Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Mesa Second and Fifth Ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bishop Martin R. Young Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mesa Cemetery.
Friends may call at Meldrum Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow before services.
Mrs. Cardon, a native of Payson, Utah, had lived in Mesa and Chandler 35 years. Ill for more than a year, she had been living at 159 S. Mesa Drive.
At an early age, she moved to Mexico, where she taught school for many years. She was a life-long member of the LDS church and was a worker in the Arizona Temple here.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Edith C. Thatcher of Chandler, Mrs. Mary C. Clouse and Mrs. Florence C. Jones, both of Mesa, Mrs Ellen C. Carr of Hacienda Heights, Calif., Mrs. Ethel C. Whitnell of Phoenix and Mrs. Lucy C. Lamoreaux of American Falls, Utah; a son, Emanuel of West Covina, Calif.; two brothers, R. P. Done of Provo, Utah, and Heber C. Done, on an LDS mission in England; three sisters, Mrs. May D. Pierce and Mrs. Ethel D. Payne, both of Mesa, and Mrs. Eva D. Bowman of Salt Lake City; 32 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren.
