Dr. Craig B. Crompton of Green River, Wyoming, died suddenly Saturday, September 5, 1998 of heart complications.
He was born December 21, 1950 in Logan, Utah to Fae and Clifford Crompton. Craig graduated from Orem High School and attended Brigham Young University where he played on the varsity football team. During this time he married Aharlene Anderson and they had three daughters; Chrisa Lee, Angie and Marci. Charlene and Craig later divorced. In 1974 he received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. Craig then graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1979 after which he specialized in pathology.
Since 1983, he had been practicing pathology at the Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
In 1984, he married Janice McCullough. Craig’s passion was fly fishing for which he and Janice traveled widely in this pursuit to Mexico, Central and South America and Alaska. Despinte his numerous travels, nothing compared to his love for the rivers of Western Wyoming. He was especially devoted to the development of the Green River as a healthy trout habitat. He enjoyed the art of tying flies in preparations for the next fishing expedition. His passion for the outdoors always found him bicycling and cross-country skiing or snow machining. Their home is filled with books. Craig was continually seeking knowledge and was very articulate in regard to his endeavors and avocations. His unique enthusiasm for life transformed every moment and will be greatly missed by those who shared and caught the momentum.
Craig is survived by his wife Janice McCullough Crompton; his three daughters; Christa Lee Smith (Edward) Logan, UT; Marci Crompton and Angie Crompton of Salt Lake City, UT; his parents, Clifford and Fae Crompton of Orem, UT; four brothers; Kevin, Corey (Donna), Darryl (Tammy), Kirby (Jodi) and sister-in-law Kelly Crompton.
