Rites to be
Tomorrow
Funeral services for Dexter C. Swartfager, 85, who died Tuesday at the Santa Rosa General Hospital after a week’s illness, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Eggen & Porter funeral home.
Mr. Swartfager was the father of Bryce Swartfager, and Mrs. Katie June Puck of Santa Rosa.
He came to the United States from his native Canada at the age of 19 and settled in Piedmont, Wyo., where he went to work for the Western Pacific Railroad Co.
From Wyoming, Mr. Swartfager was transferred to Ogden, Utah, as station agent for the railroad. After 51 years with the railroad, he was retired more than 15 years ago and since that time has made his home with his son Bryce at 3255 Linwood Avenue.
Besides his son and daughter here, he is survived by his wife Mrs. Fannie Swartfager, Santa Rosa; two other sons, Ray Swartfager, Thornton, Cal., and Vernon Swartfager, San Francisco; a step-daughter, Maralyn Paulas, San Francisco; four brothers, Chester Swartfager, Willis Swartfager, Adrian Swartfager and Thomas Swartfager, all of Ontario, Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Fetterly, Aultsville, Ont.; Mrs. Sarah Shell, Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs Annie Guild, Piedmont, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Donald Puck, Santa Rosa; Barbara La Frazia, San Carlos; Lois Swartfager, Midway; Varcelle Swartfager, Napa, and Gale Swartfager, Thornton, Cal.; and two great-grandchildren, Brent Robler, San Carlos, and Nancy Lee Hawkins, Midway.
