Dalton Robert Mayn died April 6, 2012, at the age of 19.
Mr. Mayn was a lifelong resident of the Mountain Area. He was born Aug. 28, 1992, in Merced. Mr. Mayn graduated from Yosemite High School in 2011.
He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities and spending time with his family and friends. He was active in church youth groups and enjoyed going on mission trips with them.
He signed up for the U.S. Marine Corps a few days prior to his accident.
Mr. Mayn is survived by parents Steve and Tracy Mayn of Coarsegold, and Angelia Klaproth of Bakersfield and Bert Klaproth of Oakhurst; siblings Julianna, Tony, Roni, Tyler, and Hailey; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dalton Mayn Memorial account at Central Valley Community Bank. After the family’s remaining medical and funeral expenses are covered, they hope to use the funds in the account to help other families in the community facing similar situations.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 21 at Mountain Christian Center in Oakhurst. A burial will be held at 10 a.m. April 23 at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst.

Dalton Mayn, a 19-year-old 2011 Yosemite High School graduate from Coarsegold, died April 6 from medical complications. He was the passenger in a solo car accident Oct. 6 near YHS.
Following the accident, Mayn was in a coma that progressed to a semi-conscious state. He got a lung infection last week that progressed to a septic infection that took his life.
Along with volunteering and his faith, friends and family said the young man enjoyed snowboarding, music, mud bogging, four wheeling, skateboarding and spending time with those close to him.
