Colleen Thomas Long of Eden Utah, passed away on April 27, 2018. She was born in Laramie Wyoming to Archie Van Thomas and Sylvia Mary Walker Thomas. She married her sweetheart, Kenneth Arvon Long on September 21, 1971 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission for the church in Chicago IL, was in the Primary presidency and worked decades as an extraction specialist, family search arbitrator and was a temple worker at the Brigham City Temple. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Colleen earned her Bachelor’s degree from Utah State and Master’s degree from Iowa State. 

Colleen worked for the Utah State Extension office. She taught many students at Utah State and Weber State in her Cultural Foods and Child and Family Studies classes. She worked at the Weber County Health Dept. as a nutritionist and retired as the assistant director for WIC. 

She enjoyed singing both in the ward choir and the Ogden Valley Chordettes, she enjoyed playing and teaching piano, sewing, quilting, researching family history, gardening, shopping and traveling. She passed many of these talents on to her daughters and others through 4H. Her greatest joy was spending time with and playing games with her family.

Colleen is survived by her daughters, Camille (Scott) Hurst, Denise (Brandon) Hadfield, Sharilee (Jacob) Bailey; 9 grandchildren, Kaitlin Hurst, Jacob Hurst, Chandler Hurst, Alexis Hurst, Kaleb Hadfield, Megan Hadfield, McKenna Bailey (Tyler) Westbroek, Madison Bailey, Kylee Bailey; two sisters, Madelyn T. (Marvin) Evans and Karen (Dennis) Jackson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and parents.

The family would like to give special thanks to the LDS Hospital Leukemia Unit, Loveland Clinic, McKay Dee Infusion Center, IHC Palliative and Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Huntsville Stake Center, 6500 East 1900 North, Eden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and Thursday prior to the service at the church from 10 to 10:40 a.m. Interment, Eden Meadow View Cemetery.
