Chandra Jean (McDonald) Salisbury, 59, returned to her heavenly home on March 28, 2015, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Chandra was born to Bartley and Caree McDonald, in Denver, CO, on September 25, 1955. She was immersed in the LDS community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She graduated from Alameda High School in Denver. She served a mission in Milan, Italy, 1976-1977.

Chandra was blessed with a loving family. She married her best friend, Elmore Hearst Salisbury III. Chandra was a loving mom of two children, Alicia Marie Grunig and Michael Hearst Salisbury. She taught them to read, write, and solve complex equations, and often took them on long family trips to see the natural beauty of God’s creation. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospel.

Chandra is survived by her husband, Elmore; her daughter, Alicia Grunig; her son, Michael (Alisha) ; her mother and father, Caree and Bartley McDonald; her brother, Curtis McDonald (Peggy); her grandchildren David Jr, Everett, Kailani, Thomas, Dakota, and Akayla. She is preceded in death by her grandmothers and grandfathers.

There will be a viewing for Chandra at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S., West Valley City, on Thursday, April 2, 2015, from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday April 3, 2015 at 11am at the Pleasant Green 1st Ward, 8739 W. 3000 S., Magna, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
