PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The bodies of two climbers killed in a 1,000-foot fall down Mount Hood have been taken off the mountain by toboggan.

Officials said one of the two climbers, Carey Cardon, 31, and his wife, Tena Cardon, 29, slipped and pulled the other down Sunday night as they descended. The fall was witnessed by dozens of climbers.

Unusually warm weather may have led to their deaths. Soft snow apparently gave way on their descent. Their bodies, found still tethered together, were removed Monday.
