Long-time Santa Rosa attorney Bryce Swartfager died yesterday at his home, 3255 Linwood ave., following an illness of two weeks.
Mr. Swartfager, 74, was a senior member of the firm of Maxwell, Swartfager, Allen & Mawson and was founder of the Santa Rosa Symphony Association.
A native of Wyoming, Mr. Swartfager attended high school in Ogden, Utah and Valparaiso University in Indiana. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of California at Berkeley and his doctorate of jurisprudence at UC.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and completed work on his doctorate after his military service.
Mr. Swartfager started his law practice in Santa Rosa in 1924 with Judge John Tyler Campbell.
In addition to being a member of the Sonoma County Bar Association and the California Bar Association, he was affiliated with Theodore Roosevelt Post 21, American Legion, and the Santa Rosa Rotary Club.
He and his wife, Ivanetta, Swartfager, had been married for 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Emerson Puck, Santa Rosa. He was the uncle of Mrs. Richard Tucker, San Carlos; Mrs. Howard Osborn, Illinois; Varcelle Swartfager, Nevada; and Donald Puck, San Bernardino.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow from the Eggen & Lance Mortuary, with the Rev. Ervin Jenkins of Grace Baptist Church officiating.
The eulogy will be given by Judge Kenneth M. Eymann.
Private inurement will follow at the Chapel of the Chimes.
