Dr. Bob Kenneth Merrill, of Cottage Side Way, Draper, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Sandy, Utah. Before moving to Utah, he resided at 4704 Della Robia Court in Fair Oaks, California.

He was born on October 14, 1918 to Kenneth and Gertrude Johnson Merrill in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from the University of Utah and from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Bob practiced dentistry for 45 years. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Air Force and continued his dental practice in Sacramento, CA for 17 years. He married Carol Woolley and together they had three children, Kenneth, Rene and Kevin. Carol passed away in 1966. He then married Almah Miner Johnson (my cousin). Bob was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions including bishop. Bob was an artist whose talents were manifest in beautiful paintings, ceramics, wood carving and needlepoint. He earned his pilot’s license in his early 60’s and loved flying. 

Survivors included his wife; six children, Ken (Louise) Merrill, Rene Trimnal, Kevin (Susan) Merrill, Dennis (Barbara) Johnson, Brent (Lyn) Johnson, and Brad (Janna) Johnson; 30 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 12:00 PM at the River View Sixth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 552 East 11400 South in Draper, Utah. A Viewing was held from 10:45 until 11:45 AM before the services.
Bob was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy, Utah.
