ARIEL F. CARDON OPERA-
TED ON FOR APPENDICITIS
Word comes from Provo that Mr. Ariel F. Cardon, former editor of this paper, was operated upon for appendicitis at a Provo hospital on Saturday evening last at 5 oclock. The operation was successful, but somewhat more serious that at first anticipated. Sunday brought forth a fairly good day, and as his mother Mrs. Lucy S. Cardon had received no word to the contrary at the time of going to press last evening, he apparently spent a good day yesterday. Mrs. Cardon leaves for Provo this morning. The Republican hopes for his successful and early recovery.

WOW!
While most of the American people and a good many of the inhabitants of foreign countries are sounding the praises of President Woodrow Wilson, the anvil chorus of the Smoot and company goes merrily on, to the amusement and perhaps the disgust of the many. The other night the Senator took his son-in-law, Ariel Cardon, to Mt. Pleasant with him and after Pa got through Ariel took a whack at things. This is what he said according to the newspaper reports of the affair:
“Ariel F. Cardon, son-in-law of Reed Smoot, also addressed the meeting. He said that President Wilson was a great success as a college professor, but a miserable failure as a president. Joseph Seely presided at the meeting.”
That’s going some isn’t it? At that rate Cardon will have the Almighty relegated to the rear inside of ten years and will be running the universe himself. “A miserable failure” Ye Gods! What terms of disapproval would the redoubtable Ariel use if he happened to turn against Pa Smoot and started in to discuss the Senator’s record?
