Ardell C. Mauro, 93, of Lodi, died Oct. 22 in a local convalescent hospital following an extended illness. She was born on Feb. 13, 1908, in Logan, Utah, where she was raised.
Mrs. Mauro resided for many years in Ogden, Utah. While residing there she was an executive assistant to the Attorney General of Utah.
She moved to San Jose where she resided for 26 years. While in San Jose she was executive secretary to the Superintendent of Campbell Union High School District in San Jose for 12 years.
During World War II she was employed by the F.C.C. in Washington, D.C.
She moved to this area 18 years ago. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed traveling in Europe and Mexico, gardening, writing poetry, and writing for children’s magazines and newspapers.
She is survived by her daughter, two sons, two step-children; sister, Dorothy Carty of Utah; and brother, Dean Cardon of Utah; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Interment at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.
