Alva Jean Farnsworth Rowley was born in Colonia Dublan, Mexico on October 11, 1925. She was the daughter of Albert Kent Farnsworth and Eva May Cardon and the youngest of seven children. When she was a young child her family moved back to the United States permanently. She was raised in Mesa Arizona and graduated from Mesa High School.

In her late teens, in the last years of WWII, she and her parents moved to California for a short time where she worked at the ship yards as a welder for the “war effort”.

She married Gene Haws Rowley, a boy she had gone to school with, in May of 1945 after he returned from serving over seas in the Army during WWII. They had seven children-Gene Jr., David Glen, Gary Duane, Darlynn, Rebecca, Richard Ervin, and Sheri Lee.

Alva Jean died of a brain tumor November 30, 2000 and is buried in the Salem, Utah cemetery. She is survived by her husband Gene and their seven children.
