Wife of Harry Walter Greene
Maxine Greene, 79, of Fort Bridger, died Dec. 31, 2008 at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston.
She was born April 12, 1929 in the Officers guardhouse at the Fort in Fort Bridger. Maxine’s grandfather owned the Fort until such time as he sold it to the state so it could be preserved as a historical site.
Maxine attended schools in the Bridger Valley and was married to Harry Greene on March 11, 1946 in Evanston. Together they owned and operated a motel in Medicine Bow before returning to the Valley.
She served on the Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board. She also served on the board of the Fort Bridger Sewer and Water District. She was a longtime volunteer at the polls on election day.
Maxine and her husband Harry were also avid rock hunters.
Maxine is survived by her son, Danny Joseph Greene and several grand-and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Owen Pahl Greene, a daughter, Claudia Jean Greene, a sister, Lorraine, and her parents.
Graveside services were conducted on Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Fort Bridger Cemetery
