Alden Cardon Stout was born on May 18, 1922, in Leamington, Utah, to Walter Milton Stout and Dency Cardon Stout. Alden passed away on September 19, 2012, in Silsbee, at the age of 90. He was raised in Boulder City, Nevada, where his father obtained work building the Hoover Dam.
Alden graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1940. He proudly served in the Navy during WW II, in the Pacific. After the war, he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, where he earned an electrical engineering degree.
He was employed at Mobil Oil Refinery in Beaumont, Texas, for 32 years. Alden was also member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully all of his life, including fulfilling a mission from 1947 to 1949 in the Texas-Louisiana area, serving as Bishop of the Beaumont Stake in 1961 until 1972. He was then called as a Stake Patriarch.
Alden is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Novice Morris Stout; two daughters, Rebecca Cryer of Silsbee, Texas, and Karen Hartman of Georgetown, Texas; a son, Alden M. Stout of Urbandale, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 21, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at LDS Church, at 7785 Weaver Drive, Beaumont, Texas, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
