Cardon Family Organization Honorees 2015
Royal Lavor Cardon was born May 19, 1944, in Durango, Colorado to Joseph Phillip Cardon Sr. and Anna Marie Rothlisberger. He was the fourth son in a family of five boys and three girls. We never called him by Royal but by Lavor. As a young man he served his mission in Mexico City. On returning he continued his studies at BYU and earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree. Durning the Vietnam crisis he was drafted into the army and served in San Francisco. On December 21st, 1973, he married Marilyn Pessner. They have five children and 15 grandchildren. Lavor and Marilyn presided over the Bahia Blanca Argentina Mission from 2000 to 2003. They also presided over the Lima, Peru MTC from 2012 to 2014. Lavor has helped with the Cardon Family Organization, he has been the treasurer for years, other than when he was gone on his mission in which case he roped his brother into covering for him. He has also been the treasurer for the PFO taking care of the funds for many years. When he has not been serving missions, he has also been involved in doing some of the research of the Notary records to identify ancestors that need ordinance work. Lavor has always been available to serve in any capacity with the PFO work or for the Cardon Family Organization. He will be our chairman for the next reunion in two years.
Marriner Paul Cardon was born of goodly parents in Albuquerque, New Mexico and grew up in Colorado. His goodly parents forced him to shovel coal late at night when he was caught talking to his brothers but, he was faithful and didn’t turn them in so he shoveled the coal alone. Despite this he had a strong interest in family history that started in elementary school. From there he did some research and discovered the great history that we all share as he continued to do research and compile an amalgamation of the stories that he heard and everything else and at the time increased the knowledge back two generations. He has also done a beautiful video, it was a super 8mm film, of the “Children of the Valleys”. What was very fortunate for all of us in his family is he took us to Torre Pellice and Rora valley and we saw the villages where our ancestors came from. He is going to tell you a lot more about his research and his history during his presentation today.
2015 Reunion Committee
Reunion President
The 2015 Reunion President is Scott Cardon. He helped the 2013 president with planning and details and is the president for the 2015 reunion. Scott is also a 2nd great grandson of Louis Philip. Scott descends through Louis Paul Cardon. In fact, Scott’s first name is Louis. Louis is also the first name of his father, his grandfather, and his great grandfather making him the 5th Louis in a row. Scott carried on the tradition and named his oldest son Louis as well. At the 2013 reunion, Scott presented the “2012 Cardon Family Trip to Wyoming Remembered” break-out session.

She has graciously acquiesced to lead us on the 2016 Church History tour. See the travel pages of this website for past remembrances and future travel plans. Her displays and presentations at the reunions always attract a lot of attention.
