29 Apr 1940 – 18 Jun 2010
Former wife of Rodney Harold Cardon

JoAnn Williams Whatcott graduated from her mortal experience, with honors, on June 18, 2010, after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 29, 1940 in Cedar City, Utah, to Max and Edna (Walker) Williams.
As a child her family moved to East Los Angeles, California where she attended school and had a very happy childhood. She met and married Rodney Harold Cardon on March 14, 1959. They lived in the Los Angeles area until 1967 and moved their family to El Paso, Texas. They later divorced. JoAnn moved to Provo, Utah in 1986, where she met and married Dr. D. Keith Whatcott on April 22, 1989. They enjoyed over two wonderful decades together. They loved traveling to many beautiful parts of the United States and interesting areas of the world. She has always been very faithful and actively served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband, Keith, enjoyed serving four missions together in the Utah area. She was very talented and loved to serve her family and friends. She created and shared many beautiful pieces of handiwork; her legacy and heirlooms will be treasured for generations.
After her long struggle with cancer, she was welcomed home by her parents, and youngest son, Anthony Harold Cardon, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Dr. D. Keith Whatcott; her brother, L Jay Williams; sisters ReVoe Wilson and Shauna Jean Lazarus; four loving children: Jill Pratt, Gail Dickman, Christopher Cardon, and Jennifer Young; and her husband’s 13 children. Combined, they were the proud grandparents of 82 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She loved all of her family; she will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by the Alpine Hospice nurses, aides, and staff, and also the many neighbors and friends who have been so kind and generous through this difficult time.
Funeral services in her honor will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Oak Hills 9th Ward Hillside Chapel, 1960 North 1500 East, Provo. A viewing and gathering will be held on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the same location, and at 10:00 a.m. just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
