OGDEN – Ann Laurie Draper, 85, died Sunday, July 7, 1996, at a local care center.

She was born December 24, 1910, in Eden, a daughter of Hirum and Nancy Ritter Stallings.

She married Carlos Ballantyne Cardon on April 10, 1939, in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death. She married Arthur Ray Draper on October 14, 1944, in Ogden. He died October 17, 1984.

She was raised and educated in Eden, graduating from Weber High School and Weber College class of 1931, where she received her degree in education. She taught school for several years at Weber High before going to work at the Weber County Court House.

In her younger years she was involved in Young Democrats and moved on to lots of activities for the Democratic Party during the 40’s and 50’s. She worked for the Weber County Clerks Office for over 45 years.

She was an avid bowler and golfer for many years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for family and friends. She loved to read. Christmas was a time to make her famous peanut brittle which she made by the bucket full and gave to everyone.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Vernon R. (Cathy) Draper, Layton; Robert (Sharon) Draper, Salt Lake City; A.B. (Lana) Draper, Hooper; Maxine (Vern) Capkin, Ogden; Maureen (Shorty) Olivas, Clearfield; 28 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Howard (Beth) Stallings, Ogden Beulah Thompson, Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Gertrude Stallings, Maude Folland and Florance Johnson; and one brother Jim Stallings.

Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Huntsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3406 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
