RIRIE – Ralph ElRay Summers, 53, of Ririe, Idaho, died April 24, 2001, at the family farm on Antelope Flats of natural causes. He was born Sept. 9, 1947, at Idaho Falls, to Thomas John Summers and Berdenia Green Summers. He attended schools in Ririe, and Ricks College in Rexburg.
He married Judy Martin in 1966 and they were later divorced. On Feb. 14, 1995, he married Mary Gayle “Mid” Smith in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a farmer, in lumber sales, and was employed by the City of Ririe at the time of his death. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as first counselor in the Ririe 1st Ward bishopric.
He enjoyed all outdoor sports, including snowmobiling, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a 13-year friend of Bill W.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Gayle “Mid” Summers of Ririe; two daughters, Koreen (John) Wright of Rexburg, and Kay Lynn (Wesley) Goodman of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepsons, Merrill (Linda) Sharp, and Kim Carlson, both of Rexburg; his mother, Bardenia Summers of Ririe; two sisters, Pam (Stanley) Benson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Annette (Marshall) Egan of Idaho Falls; three brothers, Tom (Merna) Summers of Pocatello, Chuck (Janet) Summers of Grant, Idaho, and Forrest (Sharie) Summers of Idaho Falls; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ririe LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends at the church tonight, April 26, from 7 to 9, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Ririe- Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
